Lots of Quechua people will find the look of our children interesting. We are in a culture where everyone is dark, with dark brown eyes, and dark brown/black hair. They often tell our brown haired kids that they are blond. I guess blond is in the eye of the beholder. They especially like the look of Sarah, who is a little more blond than our other kids. She also has big, blue eyes that are very exceptional in Peru. They will ask to put their kids in pictures with Sarah; sometimes she says “Yes”, but often she will say “No”. I leave the decision up to her. Annie, in a classic older sister move, will often sit in for Sarah in these situations so that the people asking will not be disappointed. This is a picture of Annie sitting with a little Quechua girl that Sarah refused to be pictured with. Look at those big cheeks on that little toddler!
