The Trumpet – From Peter

Love the trumpet

Love the trumpet

I know it is just July, but recently I have been printing out Christmas music and other songs for the trumpet.  So on Christmas I will be able to play Christmas songs.  I started to play the trumpet by just bringing it to school.  First it was kind of weird, because I did not know how to play it.  I just knew how to blow into it, but it turns out I was not blowing right.  Then my teacher, he plays the trumpet too and he will play the trumpet for recess at our school, he taught me how to blow it.  It sounds like this “pbpbpb”!  But now I can blow it right and I learned how to read sheet music.  So I can read the music written down and then I can play what is on the sheet.  Also, when you play the trumpet, some notes you have to vibrate your mouth in different ways.  Also I have a Fedora so it looks like I am a jazzy guy!  I like Miles Davis, but I probably like Harry Connick better because his trumpets have more action.

Me in my jazzy fedora!

  1. I am so happy to hear from you, Peter. How nice to have someone at school who can help you learn to play trumpet! I remember how you learned all the Christmas songs on the piano, and how motivated you were. Now you can do it all over again, this time on trumpet. I will be happy to hear you play when I get to your house.
