Halfway between Abancay and Curahuasi at around 12,800 feet. We took our dog Inca to the vet today. He has been limping for awhile, and for the last 10 days has not put any weight on his right rear leg. There are no veterinarians in Curahuasi, so off to Abancay we went. Sarah vomited going in both directions, Allison was out of commission from motion sickness, as was Annie. Us boys did fine (I was driving.) We got stopped by the police, and I was glad to have all of the authorizations needed to drive legally in Peru. I think there are police check points about 1/3 of the time you are driving on the highways in Peru. We found mattresses for a new bunkbed that we had made by a local carpenter. We needed some more sleeping arrangements for guests arriving tomorrow, and for two college students who will be spending the summer with us. I think we are ready for a good winter here in Curahuasi (my biological clock still tells me that this is the beginning of summer).
