Every Saturday morning, after breakfast, we head to the local market or Feria. It is located near a local park and track. It appears to me that much of the produce arrives from large farms somewhere in San Jose, yet there is also evidence that much of what is presented is local produce as well. Of course, occasionally we find an apple with a sticker from the US. It is very cheap, and we are glad to be able to buy fresh fruit and vegetables every Saturday. The vegetables are huge! Allison has picked out her favorite vendors, and generally goes to the same stalls every Saturday. The kids play at the park and the top of the hill, and Will usually visits with whichever other missionaries happen to be there at the same time.
Allison — as I looked at the picture of you considering the produce, I thought of the many times I was with your mom at Farmer’s Market! Like you, she had her favorite stalls and returned again and again; I always made her pick out my tomatoes — she was a champ at that. By the way, I made your ‘arepas’ recipe last night — it was a hit! Thanks. Love and blessings on all the Caires!

Lana,
Thanks so much for your comment. Mom did have the touch on finding good produce. I think of how she would like to see our feria and how she would have tried more exotic new fruits too. So happy to hear about the arepas too. Your note inspired me to make them and we put some fresh strawberry sauce on top tonight which took them over the top. I am always happy to hear from you and think of you, Lana.
